Sometime in 2003, Bob Harris, an avid modeler whose roots go back to the 60's and 70's, was discussing the older radio systems with some friends in North Carolina.  The topic was whether the radios they were collecting at that point would still work after all these years.  Bob's father, who had a business repairing radios during that era, rebuilt one of the early single channel radios, installed it in a model of the same vintage and went flying.  Surprising, the model flew quite well.

From that first flight several other "early rc models" were scratch built and flown to the surprise of many.  Soon inquiries about the older designs starting coming in from people who remembered the early kits.  Unfortunately, with the popularity from the kit collectors the original kits were a bit too pricey for many of these people.  Besides, a lot of the original designs were so complicated to assemble and the wood so poorly cut that the end result was generally frustrating.

Thus Early RC Models was born.  Our kits are very close to the originals with many parts interchangeable.  Bob owns most of the original kits which he used for reference and the few he did not have he was able to borrow.  Utilizing CAD drawings for plans and laser cutting for the wood parts, the new versions of the classic kits are now a joy to build.

The sales volume increased to the point that Bob was having trouble keeping up with production in his spare time so in 2006, Early RC Models was sold to Wing Manufacturing.
